Sheikh Kamal was a prominent personality in Bangladesh. He was the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, former President of Bangladesh and Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib. He was the younger brother of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He was born on August 5, 1949, in Tungipara of Gopalganj district. His life and contributions have had a lasting impact on the Bengali nation. Actually, Sheikh Kamal led a very simple life. He loved spending time with his friends and classmates. He was very good at playing cricket, joking, singing, having a good time and making friends. He had a great passion for sports and cultural activities along with academic studies. He was a first-class basketball and cricket player as well as a sports organizer. He was also interested in classical music. Moreover, Sheikh Kamal made a great contribution to the sports and culture of Bangladesh. He was one of the founders of Dhaka Theatre. He was also the founder of a cultural organization called Spandan Shilpi Gosthi and a sports club called Abahani Krira Chakra. On August 15, 1975, he was brutally killed by a group of murderers at his residence in Dhanmondi. In fact, the name of Sheikh Kamal will be intact forever in the hearts of all the people of Bangladesh for his outstanding contribution.
