International Mother Language Day paragraph

International Mother Language Day is a memorable day in the history of Bangladesh. The 21st February is called the International Mother Language Day. This day is related to the history of the language movement in Bangladesh. Every country in the world including Bangladesh observes this day as International Mother Language Day every year. It occupies one of the places in world history. Bengalis are the only nation in the world who had to fight for their mother tongue and sacrifice their lives. Basically, the history of the 21st February is very terrible. Since the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, attempts were made to make Urdu the state language of Pakistan. On the 21st of March in 1948, Muhammad Ali Jinnah came to Dhaka and in a meeting, he announced, "Urdu and Urdu shall be the state language of Pakistan." Later on, 21st March 1952, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Nazimuddin again made the same announcement that Urdu would be the state language of Pakistan. Khwaja Nazimuddin's announcement ignited the protests in East Bengal, especially among the students. Police issued section 144 to quell the protests. But the students took out a procession in violation of section 144 and raised slogans, "We want Bengali as the state language."  Police first arrested some students for violating section 144 and later opened fire on the students. Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar and many others were killed in the police firing. Eventually, the rulers of West Pakistan were bound to recognize Bengali as the state language of East Pakistan for strong student protests. Since then the 21st February has been declared Mother Language Day. After much deliberation, UNESCO declared 21st February as International Mother Language Day in November 1999. Since then, every country in the world has celebrated the 21st of February as International Mother Language Day with great tribute. So, as Bengalis, we are proud of International Mother Language Day.
