Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani was a renowned
religious figure of Islam. He was born at Jilan in Iraq. His father
had died before he was born. His mother decided to send him to Baghdad to
educate him. Actually, the mother of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani was very
pious. She taught her son many important and religious things from
childhood. While sending his son to Baghdad, she sewed forty gold coins into
the shirt of her son and advised him never to tell a lie even in
danger. At that time, the roads were not safe. Often the robbers
pounced on the travelers and looted their belongings and money. Hazrat
Abdul Qadir Jilani left for Baghdad with a group of merchants. But on the
way, a gang of robbers pounced on the merchants and looted all their money and
possessions. One of the robbers said that the little boy might have
something. The gang leader of the robbers said that the boy probably had
nothing. At that time, Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani said, "No, no, I
have forty gold coins sewn in my shirt." Hearing this, the gang
leader was astonished and said, "You could not reveal the truth." Then Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani said, "My mother advised me never to tell a
lie even in danger." After hearing this, the robbers were very
ashamed of their deeds. Finally, they gave up the robbery.
