Bangladesh is a country of six seasons. The rainy season is one of these six seasons. Each season has its own characteristics. Everyone likes different seasons for different characteristics. But the rainy season is the favorite season of all. When the earth is heated in the scorching heat of the summer, the rainy season comes with a shower of rain and cools the earth in a moment. Besides, it cleans all the dust and impurities with rainwater. Plants come back to life. During the rainy season, rivers, canals and ponds are filled with water. Farmers start growing golden crops in the fields with the help of rainwater. During the rainy season, the sky is overcast with black clouds. The face of the sun is not seen occasionally. It rains in torrents during the rainy season. Nature becomes fresh in rainwater. Different types of flowers bloom at this time. Kadam, Bakul, Kaya, Kamini, Ghassful, Sandhyamalati, etc. are notable flowers of the rainy season. But, the rainy season has some disadvantages. During this time, people cannot go outside because of constant rain. The roads become muddy and slippery. The poor cannot go to work during the rainy season. As a result, they have to starve often. Besides, there are frequent thunderstorms during the rainy season. And, many people die due to thunderstorms. Another mentionable disadvantage of the rainy season is flood. During the rainy season, heavy rain causes flood occasionally. And, the suffering of the people knows no bounds during the flood. In spite of some disadvantages, the rainy season does good to us a lot. So, the rainy season is a favorite season of all.

বাংলাদেশে ষঢ় ঋতুর দেশ। এই ষঢ় ঋতুর মধ্যে বর্ষাকাল অন্যতম। প্রত্যেকটি ঋতুর আলাদা বৈশিষ্ট্য থাকে। ঋতুর এই ভিন্ন ভিন্ন বৈশিষ্ট্য জন্য প্রত্যেকে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ঋতু পছন্দ করে। তবে বর্ষাকাল প্রত্যেকের পছন্দের ঋতু। গ্রীষ্মের প্রচণ্ড গরমে যখন পৃথিবী উত্তপ্ত তখন বর্ষাকাল এক পশলা বৃষ্টি নিয়ে আগমন করে এবং মূহুর্ত্তের মধ্যে উত্থপ পৃথিবীকে ঠান্ডা করে দেয়। এছাড়া এটা বৃষ্টির পানি দ্বারা সকল ধুলাবালি ও অপরিচ্ছন্নতা পরিস্কার করে দেয়। গাছপালা প্রান ফিরে পায়। বর্ষাকালে নদী-নালা, খাল-বিল ও পুকুর পানিতে ভরে যায়। বৃষ্টির পানি দ্বারা কৃষক মাঠে সোনার ফসল লাগাতে শুরু করে। বর্ষাকালে আকাশ কালো মেঘে ঢাকা থাকে। কোন কোন দিন সূর্যের মুখ দেখা যায় না। বর্ষাকালে মুষলধারে বৃষ্টি হতে থাকে। বৃষ্টির পানিতে প্রকৃতি সতেজ হয়ে উঠে। এ সময় নানা রকম ফুল ফোটৈ। কদম, বকুল, কেয়া, কামিনী, ঘাসফুল, সন্ধ্যামালতী ইত্যাদি বর্ষাকালের উল্লেখযোগ্য ফুল। তবে বর্ষাকালের কিছু অসুবিধা আছে। এ সময় মানুষ অবিরাম বৃষ্টির কারণে বাইরে যেতে পারেনা। রাস্তাঘাট কর্দমাক্ত ও পিচ্ছিল হয়ে যায়। গরীবরা বর্ষাকাল কাজে যেতে পারে না। ফলে তাদের কোন কোন দিন অনাহারে থাকতে হয়। এছাড়া বর্ষাকালে ঘনঘন বজ্রপাত হয়। আর বজ্রপাতের কারণে অনেক মানুষ মারা যায়। বর্ষাকালের আরেকটি উল্লেখযোগ্য অসুবিধা হল বন্যা। বর্ষাকালে অতিবৃষ্টির কারণে মাঝে মাঝে বন্যা হয়। আর বন্যার সময় মানুষের দুর্ভোগের শেষ থাকে না। কিছু অসুবিধা থাকার সত্ত্বেও বর্ষাকাল আমাদের অনেক উপকার করে। তাই বর্ষাকাল সবার প্রিয় ঋতু।
