Padma Bridge composition
Padma Bridge is the dream bridge of the people of Bangladesh. It is the longest bridge in Bangladesh and the 122nd longest bridge in the world. It is constructed at Mawa and Jajira points on the biggest river Padma in Bangladesh. The construction of the bridge has connected the southern part of the country with the capital Dhaka. It is hoped that the Padma Bridge will bring significant improvement in transportation trade and commerce in Bangladesh. It will also have a positive impact on the overall development of the country.
The Padma Bridge project was first proposed in 1998. However, the construction of the bridge was not possible due to various political and financial crises. Later on 26 November 2014 the construction work of the Padma Bridge started and on 12 December 2015 Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work. Finally, the construction of Padma Bridge was completed on 25 June 2022 and the bridge was opened to the public.
The Padam Bridge is a two-tier road-rail bridge. It is 6.15 km long and 18 meters wide. There are 41 spans, 42 pillars, 294 piles, 4 lanes, 415 lampposts, and 2917 road slabs on this bridge. Actually, the bridge was built with Bangladesh's own funding entirely.
One of the main objectives of Padma Bridge is to develop the transportation of the country. As per the objectives, the bridge has facilitated the direct road connectivity of 21 districts of the southern part of the country with Dhaka. As a result, the travel time between the two regions has been reduced by a few hours, and trade and commerce are developing tremendously.
Another key benefit of the Padma Bridge is
that it will help reduce poverty to a large extent in the country. It will also
prevent environmental pollution and create thousands of job
opportunities.
Finally, it can be said that Padma Bridge is a significant development prospect for Bangladesh. It symbolizes the overall development of the country. It will not only develop transportation but also increase the economic growth of the country and create an opportunity to improve the standard of living of the people. Above all, the Padma Bridge will accelerate the development prospects of Bangladesh for ages.

পদ্মা সেতু প্রকল্পটি প্রথম প্রস্তাব করা হয়েছিল ১৯৯৮ সালে। কিন্তু বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক ও অর্থনৈতিক সংকটের কারণে সেতুটি নির্মাণ করা সম্ভব হয়নি। পরবর্তীতে ২০১৪ সালের নভেম্বর পদ্মা সেতুর নির্মাণ কাজ শুরু হয় এবং ২০১৪৫ সালের ১২ ডিসেম্বর মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা নির্মাণ কাজের উদ্বোধন করেন। অবশেষে, পদ্মা সেতুর নির্মাণ কাজ শেষ হয় ২০২২ সালের ২৫ জুন এবং সেতুটি জনসাধারণের জন্য উন্মুক্ত করা হয়।
পদ্মা সেতু একটি দ্বি-স্তর বিশিষ্ট সড়ক-রেল সেতু। এটি ৬.১৫ কিলোমিটার দীর্ঘ এবং ১৮ মিটার চওড়া। এই সেতুতে ৪১টি স্প্যান, ৪২টি পিলার, ২৯৪টি পাইল, ৪টি লেন, ৪১৫টি ল্যাম্পপোস্ট এবং ২৯১৭টি রোড স্ল্যাব আছে। আসলে সেতুটি বাংলাদেশের নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে নির্মিত হয়েছে।
পদ্মা সেতুর অন্যতম উদ্দেশ্য হলো দেশের পরিবহন ব্যবস্থার উন্নয়ন করা। উদ্দেশ্য অনুযায়ী, সেতুটি ঢাকার সঙ্গে দেশের দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের ২১টি জেলার সরাসরি সড়ক যোগাযোগ সহজতর করেছে। ফলে দুই অঞ্চলের মধ্যে ভ্রমণের সময় কয়েক ঘন্টা কমে গেছে এবং ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্যের ব্যাপক বিকাশ ঘটছে।
পদ্মা সেতুর আরেকটি মূল সুবিধা হলো এটি দেশের দারিদ্র্য অনেকাংশে কমাতে সাহায্য করবে। এটি পরিবেশ দূষণও রোধ করবে এবং হাজার হাজার কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ তৈরি করবে।
