Once there was a fox in a forest. He was very clever. One day he was walking through a forest. While walking, he suddenly fell into a trap. After many attempts, he somehow got out of the trap but lost his tail in that trap. He looked very strange without the tail. He was very sad to lose his tail. The fox was very cunning. He hit upon a plan to cut off the tails of all the foxes. According to the plan, he called all the foxes in a meeting. All the foxes attended the meeting. Then the tailless fox said, "My dear friends, all of you listen to me attentively. I have invented a new thing. We have no need for tails. They are useless and ugly. So, we should cut off our tails. You see I have cut off mine." All of you cut off your tails one by one like me." On hearing the cunning fox, all the foxes were confused. Suddenly a wise and old fox stood up and said, "Friend, your plan is no doubt excellent but foolish. You have lost your own tail. Now you are trying to cut off our tails. We are not so foolish as you." After hearing this, the stupidity of the tailless fox was revealed before everyone. And the fox without a tail was very ashamed of it. Finally, the fox without a tail failed in his plan and left the place.

একবার এক জঙ্গলে একটা শিয়াল ছিল। সে খুব চালাক ছিল। একদিন সে এক জঙ্গলের মধ্য দিয়ে হাঁটছিল। হাঁটতে হাঁটতে সে হঠাৎ এটি ফাঁদে পড়ে গেল। অনেক চেষ্টার পর সে কোনোভাবে ফাঁদ থেকে বেরিয়ে আসে কিন্তু সেই ফাঁদে তার লেজ হারিয়ে যায়। তাকে লেজ ছাড়া খুব অদ্ভুত লাগছিল। লেজ হারানোর জন্য সে খুব দুঃখ পেল। শিয়ালটি খুব চালাক ছিল। সে সব শেয়ালের লেজ কেটে ফেলার পরিকল্পনা করল। পরিকল্পনা মোতাবেক সে সব শেয়ালকে এক বৈঠকে ডাকল। সব শিয়াল সভায় উপস্থিত হল। তখন লেজবিহীন শিয়ালটি বললো, "আমার প্রিয় বন্ধুরা, তোমরা সবাই আমার কথা মনোযোগ সহকারে শোন। আমি একটা নতুন জিনিস আবিষ্কার করেছি। আমাদের লেজের কোনো প্রয়োজন নেই। সেগুলো অকেজো এবং কুৎসিত। তাই, আমাদের লেজ কেটে ফেলা উচিত। তোমরা দেখ আমি আমারটা কেটে ফেলেছি।" তোমরা সবাই আমার মতো একে একে লেজ কেটে ফেলো।" ধূর্ত শেয়ালের কথা শুনে সব শিয়াল বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে গেল। হঠাৎ একটি বুদ্ধিমান ও বুড়ো শিয়াল উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে বলল, "বন্ধু, তোমার পরিকল্পনা নিঃসন্দেহে চমৎকার কিন্তু বোকামি। তুমি তোমার নিজের লেজ হারিয়েছো। এখন তুমি আমাদের লেজ কেটে ফেলার চেষ্টা করছো। আমরা তোমার মত এত বোকা না।" এই কথা শুনে লেজবিহীন শেয়ালের বোকামি সবার সামনে প্রকাশ পেল। আর লেজবিহীন শেয়াল এতে খুব লজ্জিত হল। অবশেষে লেজবিহীন শেয়াল তার পরিকল্পনায় ব্যর্থ হল এবং সেই জায়গা ছেড়ে চলে গেল।
