A day labourer is a familiar figure in villages and towns. He maintains his family with great difficulties. The man who earns money by working for others all day is called a day labourer. A day labourer is a very hardworking man. He wakes up early in the morning and goes out in search of work. After working all day at other people's houses, he returns home with his low wages in the evening. All the members of his family at home wait for him eagerly. He comes back home, takes a bath, and goes to the market to buy his daily necessities. After going to the market, his mental sufferings increase manifold. The main reason for this is that everything is now very expensive in the market. But his daily wages are very low. As a result, he fails to buy all the things with the low wages he needs. However, finding no other way, he returns home with a heavy heart buying some food with the low wages to make a living. At the end of the shopping, he does not have a taka left. After cooking at night, everyone eats together and falls asleep. The next day, he gets up early again and goes out in search of work. In this way, every day he runs like an engine. He has no holiday. If he doesn't get work one day, he has to starve with his whole family. He doesn't have a nice house. In most cases, a day labourer lives in a small hut. He doesn't understand what the life of happiness is. He has to spend his whole life in trouble. He is illiterate and also can't educate his children. Above all, a day labourer gets nothing but sufferings in his life. Actually, he is born in the world of sorrows and sufferings. So, his whole life is full of sorrows and sufferings.

একজন দিনমজুর গ্রাম ও শহরের একজন পরিচিত ব্যক্তি। সে অনেক কষ্টে তার সংসার চালায়। যে ব্যক্তি সারাদিন অন‍্যের কাজ করে অর্থ উপার্জন করে তাকে দিনমজুর বলা হয়। একজন দিনমজুর খুবই পরিশ্রমী। সে খুব ভোরে ঘুম থেকে উঠে কাজের সন্ধানে বেরিয়ে পড়ে। সারাদিন অন্যের বাড়িতে কাজ করার পর সন্ধ্যায় স্বল্প মুজুরি নিয়ে বাড়ি ফেরে। বাড়িতে তার পরিবারের সকল সদস্য তার জন্য অধীর আগ্রহে অপেক্ষা করে। সে বাড়ি ফিরে গোসল সেরে তার নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসপত্র কিনতে বাজারে যায়। বাজারে যাওয়ার পর তার মানসিক কষ্ট বহুগুণ বেড়ে যায়। এর প্রধান কারণ হচ্ছে বাজারে এখন সবকিছুর দাম অনেক কিন্তু তার দৈনিক মজুরি খুবই কম। ফলে এই কম মজুরি দিয়ে সে তার প্রয়োজনীয় সব জিনিস কিনতে ব্যর্থ হয়। যাইহোক, কোন উপায় না পেয়ে সে কোন প্রকার জীবিকা নির্বাহের জন্য স্বল্প মুজুরি দিয়ে কিছু খাবার কিনে ভারাক্রান্ত মন নিয়ে বাড়ি ফিরে আসে। কেনাকাটা শেষে তার কাছে একটি টাকাও অবশিষ্ট থাকে না।রাতে রান্না করে সবাই একসাথে খেয়ে ঘুমিয়ে পড়ে। পরের দিন সে আবার তাড়াতাড়ি উঠে কাজের সন্ধানে বের হয়।এভাবে প্রতিদিন সে ইঞ্জিনের মতো দৌড়ায়। তার কোনো ছুটি নেই। একদিন কাজ না পেলে পুরো পরিবার নিয়ে তাকে অনাহারে থাকতে হয়। তার ভালো বাড়ি থাকে না। বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই একজন দিনমজুর একটি ছোট কুঁড়েঘরে থাকে।সুখের জীবন কি তা সে বোঝে না। সারা জীবন তাকে দু:খ-দুর্দশায় কাটাতে হয়। সে নিজে অশিক্ষিত এবং সে তার সন্তানদেরও লেখাপড়া শেখাতে পারে না। সর্বোপরি, একজন দিনমজুর তার জীবনে দুঃখ ছাড়া কিছুই পায় না। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, সে দুঃখ-কষ্টের জগতে জন্মগ্রহণ করে। তাই তার সারা জীবন দুঃখ-কষ্টে ভরা।
