Usually, a book fair is held in January and February in almost all cities and towns. The largest book fair is organized by Bangla Academy on the occasion of the 21st February. In a book fair, hundreds of stalls are set up. All sorts of books such as fiction, textbooks, dramas, children's books, reference books, etc. are displayed here. There are also food and drink stalls in a book fair. A book fair becomes crowded in the evening. Both the male and the female gather at a book fair. The writers also visit the book fair daily. Seminars and cultural programmes are also held in a book fair. The main purpose of a book fair is not only to sell books but also a great opportunity to evaluate the progress of the book publishers. It helps to create new writers as well as new readers. It inspires people to build the habit of reading. However, a book fair bears the national culture of a country. It reminds us that books are our best companions. They change our outlook on life and broaden our storehouse of knowledge. They also refine our sensibility and help us forget jealousy, malice and superstition. So, we should visit a book fair and buy books from the book fair.
