Appropriate preposition

Preposition ইংরেজি গ্রামার এর মধ্যে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ টপিক। বিসিএস ও ভর্তি পরীক্ষাসহ বিভিন্ন চাকরির পরীক্ষায় Preposition থাকেই। তাই Preposition না শেখার বিকল্প কোন পথ নেই। Preposition কে সাধারণত দুই ভাবে দেখা যায়। General preposition ও Appropriate preposition. General preposition এর কিছু নিয়ম থাকলেও Appropriate preposition এর কোনো নিয়ম নেই। তাই বাধ্য হয়ে Appropriate preposition মুখস্ত করতে হয়। নিচে কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ Appropriate preposition বাংলা অর্থসহ তুলে ধরা হলো।

1. Abide by-মেনে চলা-I will abide by the rules of our college.

2. Abide with-সঙ্গে থাকা-I always abide with him.

3. Abide in-বাস করা-My brother abides in America.

4. Abound in-প্রাচুর্যপূর্ণ হওয়া-Fish abounds in the river.

5. Abound with-প্রচুর পরিমাণে থাকা-The river abounds with fishes.

6. Abhorrence of-ঘৃণা-Everybody should have abhorrence of an imposter.

7. Abhorrent to-ঘৃণীত-Gambling is abhorrent to me.

8. Absent from-অনুপস্থিত থাকা-He was absent from the meeting.

9. Absorbed in-মগ্ন-I was absorbed in my meditation

10. Abstain from-বিরত থাকা- You should abstain from smoking.

11. Accuse of-অভিযুক্ত হওয়া-He was accused of theft

12. Acquainted with-পরিচিত-I was not acquainted with him.

13. Access to-প্রবেশাধিকার-You have no access to this room.

14. Acceptable to-গ্রহণযোগ্য-This proof is not acceptable to me.

15. According to (অনুসারে)-I finished the task according to your order.

16. Account for-জবাবদিহিতা করা-You must account for this.

17. Accountable to-দায়ী থাকা-I am not accountable to anybody for this work.

18. Accustomed to-অভ্যস্ত-I am not accustomed to this style.

19. Accompanied by/with-সঙ্গে/সাথে-He came to me accompanied by his father.

20. Adapt for-উপযোগী করে নেওয়া-This book has been adapted for the children.

21. Adept in-দক্ষ-She is adept in dancing.

22. Adopt to-খাপ খাইয়ে নেওয়া-You must adapt to the new environment.

23. Add to-বৃদ্ধি করা-It has added to our sufferings.

24. Addicted to-খারাপ কিছুতে আসক্ত-He is addicted to smoking.

25. Adequate for-পর্যাপ্ত-This information is not adequate for me.

26. Adequate to-সমানুপাতিক-My salary is not adequate to my work.

27. Adjacent to-সংলগ্ন-Our school is adjacent to our house.

28. Admit of-স্থান করা-His guilt admits of no excuse.

29. Admit to-ভর্তি করা-He was admitted to the varsity.

30. Admit into-প্রবেশ করতে দেওয়া-Only I was admitted into the examination hall.

31. Adorn with-সাজানো-The house was adorned with beautiful flowers.

32. Afraid of-ভীত-I am not afraid of snakes.

33. Affection for-স্নেহ-My father has a great affection for me.

35. Affectionate to-স্নেহশীল-My father is very affectionate to me.

36. Agree with, on, to-একমত হওয়া-He agreed with me on this point but did not agree to my proposal.

36. Aim at-লক্ষ স্থির করা-He aimed at the tiger.

37. Alarm at, by, for-আশঙ্কা করা-He was not alarmed at/by the news but alarmed for my safety.

38. Alive to-জাগ্রত-You will be alive to the coming danger.

39. Alive with-পূর্ণ-The river is alive with fishes.

40. Allot to-বরাদ্দ করা-A seat was allotted to me.

41. Aloof from-দূরে থাকা- You should always remain aloof from the bad.

42. Amazed at-আশ্চর্যন্বিত-We were amazed at his behavior.

43. Ambition for-উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষা-I have no ambition for this matter.

44. Ambitious of-উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষী-I am not ambitious of wealth.

45. Amount to-সমপরিমাণ- His scholarship money amounted to Tk. 20,000 only.

46. Amused at, by, with-আনন্দ দেয়া/আনন্দ পাওয়া-Everybody was amused at/by/with his words.

47. Angry with-রাগান্বিত-The teacher was very angry with the students.

48. Annoyed with, for-বিরক্ত-The principal was annoyed with the teacher for his absence.

49. Answer for-জবাবদিহি করা-We have to answer for our misdeeds.

50. Anxious about, for-উদ্বিগ্ন-He is anxious about his father’s death. He is anxious for me.

57. Aptitude for-প্রবণতা-The man has no aptitude for public service.

58. Appropriate to-যোগ্য-Your answer is appropriate to the question.

59. Appear at/in-উপস্থিত হওয়া-You should appear at/in the exam hall at 10 AM.

60. Apart from-দূরে-Rahim and Karim live apart from each other.

61. Arrange for-ব্যবস্থা করা-My brother has arranged everything for this function.

62. Arrive at-উপস্থিত হওয়া-I arrived at the station at 4 PM.

63. Argue with-কথা কাটাকাটি করা-You always argue with your father.

64. Ashamed of-লজ্জিত-He was ashamed of his misdeeds.

65. Associate with, in-জড়িত হওয়া-He was associated with bed work.

66. Assure of-আশ্বাস দেওয়া-You can assure me of your honesty.

68. Astonished at-বিস্ময়বিহবল হওয়া-We were astonished at his unexpected success.

69. Assent to-সম্মতি দেওয়া-The President has assented to the bill.

70. Ask for-চাওয়া-Do not ask him for any help.

71. Attach to-সংযুক্ত করা-All documents were attached to

the application.

72. Attain to-লাভ করা-He will not attain to his objective so soon.

73. Attest to-প্রত্যয়ন দেওয়া-I like to attest to your ability.

74. Attend to-মনোযোগ)-Attend to my lecture.

75. Attend on/upon-সেবা করা-We should attend on/upon the ailing patient.

76. Attention to-মনোযোগ-He has no attention to his studies.

77. Attentive to-মনোযোগী-He is attentive to his work.

78. Attacked with-আক্রান্ত-He is attacked with malaria.

79. Attacked by-আক্রান্ত হওয়া-He has been attacked by a tiger.

80. Avail of-সদ্যবহার করা-I shall avail myself of the first journey to Japan.

81. Aware of-অবগত-I am aware of his duty.

82. Agree with-ব্যক্তির সাথে একমত হওয়া-I agree with him.

83. Agree to-ব্যক্তি ছাড়া অন্যকিছুর সাথে একমত হওয়া-We cannot agree to your proposal.

84. Akin to (সমজাতীয়)-They are akin to cast.

85. Bar to (বাধা): Poverty is bar to education.

86. Bare of-অনাবৃত-The trees are bare of leaves now.

87. Bark at-ঘেউ ঘেউ করা-The dog is barking at the unknown man.

88. Based on-প্রতিষ্ঠিত,ভিত্তিক-Speaking English fluently is based on the improvement of English knowledge.

89. Bask in-রোদ পোহানো-They are basking in the sun right now.

90. Behave towards-ব্যবহার করা-They behaved objectionably towards me.

91. Beg for-অনুরোধ করা-He begged the Principal for a seat in the college hostel.

92. Believe in-বিশ্বাস করা-He believes in hereafter.

93. Belief of-বিশ্বাস-He has no belief of Allah.

94. Beneficial to-উপকারী-Morning walk is beneficial to health.

95. Bent on-উন্মুখ থাকা-He is bent on getting a good job.

96. Blind in-অন্ধ-He is blind in one eye.

97. Belong to-মালিকানাভুক্ত হওয়া-The house belongs to me.

98. Boast of-গর্ব করা-A good student does not boast of his brilliant success.

99. Born of-জন্মগ্রহণ করা- I was born of a middle-class family.

100. Bound for-প্রস্তুত থাকা-The bus is bound for Dhaka.

101. Blessed with-আশীর্বাদপুষ্ঠ-Bangladesh is blessed with many rivers.

102. Burst into-কান্নায় ভেঙ্গে পড়া-He burst into tears.

103. Burst out-হাসিতে ফেটে পড়া-He burst out laughter.

104. Busy with-ব্যস্ত থাকা-I am now busy with my father.

যদি কেউ আমার সাজেস্টেড Appropriate preposition গুলো মুখস্ত করতে পারে তাহলে বিসিএস ও ভর্তি পরীক্ষাসহ যেকোনো চাকরির পরীক্ষায় এই Appropriate preposition এর তালিকা থেকে নিশ্চিত কমন পাবে। তাই নিজের প্রয়োজনে আমার সাজেস্টেড সবগুলো Appropriate preposition মুখস্ত করে রাখুন।
