A, an ও the এর ব্যবহার কে Article
বলে।
Article দুই প্রকার।
1. Indefinite Article
2. Definite Article
Indefinite Article: A ও an কে Indefinite Article বলে কারণ তারা কোন অনিদিষ্ট ব্যক্তি, প্রাণী ও বস্তুকে বুঝায়। আর Indefinite Article singular countable Noun এর পূর্বে বসে।
যেমনঃ
i) He bought a phone.
ii) The man ate an egg.
Definite Article: The কে Definite Article বলে কারণ ইহা এক বা একাধিক বস্তু বা প্রানিকে নিদিষ্ট করে। Definite Article singular ও Plural উভয় প্রকার Noun এর পূর্বে বসে।
যেমনঃ
i) The man is happy.
ii) The boy is meritorious
A ও an এর ব্যবহার
Note-1:
সাধারনত শব্দের শুরুতে Consonant থাকলে তার পূর্বে a বসে।
যেমন:
i) I have……...mobile phone .

Note-2:
সাধারনত শব্দের শুরুতে Vowel থাকলে তার পূর্বে an বসে।
যেমন:
i) He has eaten ………….orange.

ii) I have seen……..Owl.

Note-3: কোন Singular
Countable Noun এর পূর্বে a/an
বসে। কিন্তু ঐ Singular Countable Noun
টি দ্বিতীয় বার উল্লেখ থাকলে তার পূর্বে the
বসে।
যেমন:
i) I have read........book.
..........book is very fine.

..............apple is very tasty.

Note-4: Number of এর পূর্বে a ও the বসে। Number of এর পরে verb
টি Plural থাকলে a বসে এবং Singular
থাকলে the বসে।
যেমন :
i)..............number of students are
absent.

Note-5: কোন
Word এর শুরুতে যদি Vowel
“E/Eu/U” থাকে এবং তার উচ্চারণ যদি ইউ এর মত হয়
তাহলে তার পূর্বে a বসে। আর তার উচ্চারণ যদি আ এর মত হয়
তাহলে তার পূর্বে an বসে।
যেমন :
i)He
is.........university teacher.

is..........unique picture of the world.

iii) I have
bought............umbrella from the local market.
➛(an).
iv) He is………...European.
➛(a).
v) I saw………..Ewe.
➛(a).
NB: এরকম সব শব্দগুলো হল united, university, utensil, unit, useful, union, unique, ewe,
European, usurer etc.
Note-6: Such/rather/quite ও Noun এর মাঝে a/an বসে।
যেমন:
i) Such……..girl never does well in the exam.

ii) She is rather……….darling.
➛(a).
Note-7: Many ও Noun এর
মাঝে a আথবা× বসে। Noun টি Singular হলে A বসে
আর Noun টি Plural হলে × বসে।
i) Many……….person is absent
here.

ii) Many…….students fail
in life in spite of working hard.
➛(×).
Note-8: Adjective + Noun এর পূর্বে a/an/the বসে। Noun টি singular হলে এবং adjective টি consonant দ্বারা শুরু হলে
a বসে। Noun টি singular হলে
এবং adjective টি vowel দ্বারা শুরু হলে
an বসে। আর Noun টি Plural হলে the বসে।
i) Bangladesh
is.......... democratic country in the world.

is......... agricultural country.

iii) America, Canada,
China and Japan……… developed countries in the world
➛(the).
Note-9: Vital role এর
পূর্বে a বসে। আর important role এর পূর্বে an বসে।
যেমন :
i) He
plays...........vital role in the society.

ii) English plays..............important role to get a good job.
➛(an).
Note-10: Burden এর
পূর্বে a বসে।
যেমন :
He is.........burden to
the society.

Article এর ব্যবহার
Note-11: Must এর
পূর্বে a বসে।
যেমন :
English
is....................must to get a good job.

Note-12: Lead ও life এর
মাঝে a / an বসে।
যেমন :
i) He
leads..............happy life.
➛(a).
(ii) He
leads............unhappy life.
➛(an).
Note-13: Public holiday/govt holiday এর পূর্বে a বসে কিন্তু holiday এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন :
Today is...............public
holiday.

Note-14: O দ্বারা
শুরু সকল শব্দের পূর্বে an বসে। কিন্তু O দ্বারা শুরু One শব্দটির পূর্বে
a বসে ৷ আবার O দ্বারা কোন শব্দ শুরু
হয়ে যদি তারপরে verb টি plural হয় তাহলে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
ষেমন :
i) I have
seen................owl.

iii) ……………… old are
asset.

Note-15: H যদি
হ এর মত উচ্চারণ হয় তাহলে তার পূর্বে a বসে।
আর H যদি অ/আ এর মত উচ্চারণ
হয় তাহলে তার পূর্বে an বসে।
যেমন :
i) I have..............horse.

iii) We had been

Note-16: Abbreviation এর প্রথম অক্ষর বাংলা স্বরবর্ণ হলে তার পুর্বে an বসে। আর
ব্যঞ্জন বর্ণ হলে তার পূর্বে
a বসে।

Note-17: Couple, hundred, dozen, thousand, million ইত্যাদির পূর্বে a বসে।

Note-18: Mr./Mrs./Miss. এর পূর্বে a বসে।
i) You

Note-19: Easy task
অথবা Easy work এর পূর্বে an বসে।
যেমন :

Note-20: Be verb এর
পর সাধারণত a/an বসে।
যেমন:
i) Ashik is………….student.

Note-21: তুলনা অর্থে Proper noun যদি Common noun হিসাবে
ব্যবহৃত হয় তাহলে তার পূর্বে a/an বসে।
যেমন:
i) I see, You are…….Nazrul.

iii) Sonjoy will be able to become…. Imran Khan.

Note-22: Hunting এর
পূর্বে a বসে।
যেমন:
They
went...............hunting.

Note-23: বাক্যের মধ্যে so/too থাকলে Adjective ও Noun এর মাঝে a/an বসে।
যেমন:
i) He is so
brilliant….…..teacher.

i) lt is too interesting……..matter.
Note-24: রান্নাকৃত খাবার
(breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper) এর
পূর্বে Adjective থাকলে তার পূর্বে a/an বসে।
যেমন:
i) I have……...good
breakfast.

Note-25: প্রবাদ বাক্যরে ক্ষেত্রে
ঋতুর নামের আগে a/an বসে।
যেমন:
i) One swallow does not
make….. Summer.

The এর ব্যবহার
Note-1: Morning, evening, examination, afternoon, midnight, dead night ইত্যাদি এর পূর্বে the
বসে।
যেমন:
i) He begins his work in

Note -2: Plural Noun এর
পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন :

are playing in the field .

Note -3: শুধুমাত্র adjective এর পরে যদি verb টি plural হয় তাহলে ঐ adjective টির পূর্বে the বসে। কিন্তু ঐ
adjective এর পরে Noun থাকলে
তার পূর্বে a /an/ the বসতে পারে। তবে
Noun টি singular হলে a /an বসে
এবং Noun টি Plural হলে the বসে।
যেমন :
i)..............pious
are happy.

man is happy.

men are happy.

Note -4: Adjective এর
শেষে est যোগ থাকলে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন :
He is...............shortest boy in the class.
➛(the).
Note -5: Adjective এর
পূর্বে most যোগ থাকলে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
She is.........most popular
girl.

Note-6: দুই Noun এর
মাঝে of থাকলে প্রথম Noun এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i).............importance
of English cannot be described in words.
➛(The).

Sabina is beautiful.

Note-7: Relative Pronoun (who, which ও that) এর পূর্বে যে Noun থাকে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন :
i)..............boy who
came here is my brother.

which was bought yesterday looks nice.

Note-8: One of এর
পরে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) One of..............boys
was absent.

Note-9: World, universe, globe, cosmos ইত্যাদি এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) English is spoken all
over …………… world.

Note-10: At ও Cost of এর
মাঝে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) At.............cost of
bloody battle, we got our freedom.

Note-11: Very beginning এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:

In............very beginning, I noticed him.

Note-12: একই
গুণ সম্পন্ন দুই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে তুলনা করলে যার সাথে তুলনা করা হয় তার
পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) Nazrul
is...............Shelley of Bangladesh.

ii) AK Fazlul Haque was
the Burke of Bangladesh.

iii) Narayanganj is the Dundee of Bangladesh.

Note-13: দুই
এর সাথে তুলনা করতে Comparative Degree এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) He
is...........better of the two boys.

Note-14: ঐতিহাসিক
নাম, পদবী, উপাধি ও Plural পরিবারের নামের পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i).............Headmaster
of our school is very wise.
➛(The).
Note-15: Musical instrument বা বাদ্যযন্ত্র বাজানো বুঝালে এর পূর্বে the
বসে।
যেমন:
i) He can
play...........piano.

ছন্দে ছন্দে article এর ব্যবহার
Note-16: নিন্মের কবিতার শব্দগুলোর আগে the বসে।
চন্দ্র, সূর্য, সাগর, মহাসাগর আর নদী,
পর্বতশ্রেণী, দ্বীপপুঞ্জ, উপসাগর থাকে যদি,
উত্তর, দক্ষিণ, পূর্ব, পশ্চিম মিলে এই পৃথিবী,
জাতি, সম্প্রদায়, যত-তত, ধর্মগ্রন্থ, পত্রিকা লিখলেন কবি।
জাহাজ, তারিখ আর ভৌগলিক নাম
এর আগে the এর ব্যবহার হয় সহজে জানলাম।
যেমন:

Munity(সিপাহী বিদ্রোহ)/Liberation war(মুক্তিযুদ্ধ)
(অর্থযুক্ত দেশ অর্থযুক্ত স্থান/প্রসিদ্ধ প্রাসাদ ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা বুঝালে তার পূর্বে
the বসে।
যেমন :
i) I have

Note-18: On ও Other hand এবং On ও Contrary এর
মাঝে the বসে।
যেমন :

Note-19: নির্দিষ্ট করে কোন কিছু বোঝালে Countable/ Uncountable উভয় Noun এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i)..........boy is ill.
➛(The).
ii).........water of this glass is clean.
➛(The).
iii)........girl is intelligent.
➛(The).
iv)........book is interesting.
➛(The).
Note-20: শুধুমাত্র Adjective
এর পূর্বে কোন Article বসে না কিন্তু ঐ Adjective
টি দ্বারা যদি পুরো শ্ৰেণী বা গোষ্ঠী বা জাতি বোঝায় অথবা ঐ Adjective
এর পরে যদি Verb টি Plural বা V1 থাকে তাহলে তার পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) The man is……….poor.
➛(×).
ii) She is…….happy in
life.
➛(×).
iii). ……...poor are born to suffer.
➛(The).
iv). ……..rich are not always happy.
v).........industrious
prosper in life.
➛(The).
vi)..........brave deserve the fair.
➛(The).

Note-21: রাস্তার নামের পূর্বে article
বসে না । কিন্তু রাস্তার নামের সাথে Road থাকলে তার আগে the
বসে।
যেমন:
i) He lives in……...Jalal
Ahmed Road.

ii).........Nawabpur is very busy.

Note-22: And দ্বারা কোন Noun যুক্ত হয়ে যদি তার পরে Verb টি Plural
হয় তাহলে উভয় Noun এর পূর্বে the বসে। আর যদি Verb টি Singular হয় তাহলে প্রথম Noun টির পূর্বে the এবং দ্বিতীয় Noun টির পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i)........Headmaster
and…...secretary are nice men .
➛(The, the).
ii)........Headmaster and…...secretary
is nice men.
➛(The, ×).
Note-23: বৃত্তি বা পেশা বুঝাতে
তার পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) I shall join……..bar.
➛(the).
ii) He has joined……...army.
➛(the).
Note-24: Hand/Belly/Ear/Hair/Leg/Neck/Horn/Face/Nose ইত্যাদি words এর পূর্বে By/In/On থাকলে এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) I took the bull
by………..horn.

ii) The brick hit Shamim in……..
head.

Note-25: Common Noun যদি Abstract Noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাহলে এর পূর্বে the
বসে।
যেমন:

i) Everyday should acheck……….. beast in him.

Note-26: সমগ্র বস্তুর অংশ বিশেষ
বুঝাতে Adjective যখন Noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তখন এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:
i) I like……..yellow of
the egg.

ii) I am fond
of…....green of our national flag.

Note-27: Plural Noun এর পূর্বে All/Both থাকলে
ঐ Plural Noun এর পূর্বে the বা × বসে।
i) All……...students in
the class passed the examination.

ii) Both……...children are good at maths.
➛(the/×).
Article cross এর ব্যবহার
Note-1: Possessive case যেমন: my, our, your, his,
her, their, its, one’s, name’s ও Noun এর
মাঝে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) I want

Note-2: Adjective ও Noun এর
মাঝে × বসে।
যেমন:

Note-3: Public holiday / govt holiday এর পূর্বে a বসে। কিন্তু শুধুমাত্র holiday এর পূর্বে এর পূর্বে × বসে।

Note-4: Subject ও verb এর
মাঝে × বসে।
যেমন:

মাঝে × বসে।
যেমন:

Note-6: To be verb ও v3 এর মাঝে × বসে।
যেমন :

Note-7: Adverb ও v3 এর মাঝে × বসে।
যেমন :

Note-8: Lot of এর
পূর্বে a বসে কিন্তু lots of এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:

trees have been cut down.

Note-9: In ও time অথবা on ও time এর
মাঝে × বসে কিন্তু at ও time এর মাঝে the বসে।
যেমন:
i)He came here

At..................time of his arrival, 1 was there.

Note-10: জার্তীর পূর্বে the বসে
কিন্তু ভাষার পূর্বে × বসে। আবার ভাষার নামের পরে language
থাকলে এর পূর্বে the বসে।
যেমন:

Note-11: দুই noun এর
মাঝে × বসে।

Note-13: Man / woman এর
পূর্বে a / the বসে কিন্তু মানব জাতি বোঝাতে man / woman এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:

is fond of flowers.

Note-14: Season এর
নামের পূর্বে the বসে আবার (×) ও বসে।
যেমন:
i)..............spring
has gone.

Note-15: দিন
ও মাসের নামের পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:

..Friday is holyday.

Note-16: রোগের নাম যেমন:
cold/fever/diarrhea/malaria/cholera/toothache/back-ache/stomach ache এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:

is a fatal disease.

from…….cold.

Note-17: Allah / God এর
নামের পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) .............Allah is
almighty.
➛(x).
ii) Christian calls
Allah…..God.

Note-18: খেলার নামের পূর্বে
× বসে।
যেমন:
i) I like to
play............cricket.
➛(x).
ii)...........football
is my favourite game.
➛(×).
Note-19: Proper Noun বা
কোন কিছুর নাম, একক অস্তিত্ব এবং প্রথম অক্ষর capital letter হলে এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) My elder brother reads
in…….Dhaka University.
➛(×).
ii) My brother’s name
is……..Rabiul.
➛(×).
Note-20: School/College/Madrasha/Hospital/Mosque ও jail দ্বারা প্রাথমিক উদ্দেশ্য বুঝালে এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) Maharun goes
to…….school daily.
➛(×).
ii) He comes to Mosque
on Friday.
➛(×).
Note-21: Bus/Train/Air/Boat/Lunch ইত্যাদিতে
মাধ্যমে যাওয়া বা ভ্রমণ করা বোঝালে এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) We went to Dhaka
by……..train.
➛(×).
ii) He came to Khulna
by……bus.
➛(×).
Note-22: Countable Noun যদি Plural হয় তাহলে এর পূর্বে the/x বসে।
যেমন:
i).......cows are useful
animals.
➛(The/×).
ii).........students are the future hope of a nation.
➛(The/×).
iii).........ants are industrial.
➛(The/×).
iv)........dogs are
faithful animals.
➛(The/×).
v)..........tigers are ferocious animals.
➛(The/×).
Note-23: যদি Adjective
এর পরে Noun না থাকে তাহলে ঐ Adjective এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) The boy is regular…….

Note-24: Appositive এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) Mr,
Shakil,.......Headmaster of Paikgacha High School, is high educated.
➛(×).
ii) Mr. Rabiul,
Principal of Dhaka College, is very unwise.
➛(×).
Note-25: সাধারণত রান্নাকৃত খাবার
যেমন: Meals,
Breakfast/Lunch/dinner/supper এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i) We have…….supper at
10 p.m.

ii. Usually I take…...breakfast at 8 a.m.
➛(×).
Note-26: Music/Poetry/Art ইত্যাদি এর পূর্বে ×
বসে।
যেমন:
i) Tumpa loves…….…music.

Note-27: Computer/Television/Radio/Cinema/Facebook/Mobile phone/Internet
ইত্যাদি এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i).......Facebook is an

➛(×).
Note-28: একটি মাত্র দ্বীপ,পৰ্বত বা হ্রদ বুঝালে এর পূর্বে × বসে।
যেমন:
i)..........Srilankais an island.

ii)……….Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world.
➛(×).
iii)...........Caspian is the largest lake in the world.
